Sleep Hypoventilation Market Introduction:
Sleep Hypoventilation Market: Sleep-related hypoventilation is a type of respiratory depression that affects healthy normal sleep. It occurs in any age groups including babies and young people. Hypoventilation disorders occur with improper functioning of the nervous system that leads to low levels of oxygen and an increased level of carbon dioxide in the blood. In addition, it is caused by obstructions in the lower airway, abnormal functioning of lungs, heart, muscles, and nerves. For a normal person, the brain, nerves, and muscles work together to regulate breathing during sleep but for the person with a sleep disorder, this system shows abnormal behavior. Sleep-related hypoventilation occurs independently or, more commonly, with other medical or neurological disorders or long term use of opioids or benzodiazepines.
Sleep hypoventilation disorder is of three subtypes, such as idiopathic hypoventilation, congenital central alveolar hypoventilation, and comorbid sleep-related hypoventilation. The most common symptoms seen in hypoventilation include daytime sleepiness, morning headaches, frequent awakenings during sleep, stomach problems, insomnia, faintness, difficulty breathing, and reduced exercise capacity. A significant rise in sleep-related hypoventilation may lead to heart failure, brain and blood disorders, and respiratory failure. Hypoventilation can be treated with some therapeutic and diagnostic devices. Therapeutic devices include PAP devices, oral devices, nasal devices, chin straps, and diagnostic devices includes actigraphs, polysomnography, respiratory polygraphs, pulse oximeters, and others. The most widely used process to treat sleep hypoventilation is the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure(CPAP) and Polysomnography . Certain air pressure devices are also used to adjust the pressure that helps to keep the airways open while a person is sleeping. There are also oral applications for patients who have difficulty in using pressure adjustment devices. Whereas, Polysomnography records brain waves, heart rate and breathing, and the oxygen level in the blood.
